Why have a humidifer?

Have the heater cranking during these cool winter days? Dry air got your eyes & sinuses irritated? Suffering from itchy, flaked skin? Houseplants looking like they need a little more love?

Enter the humble humidifier. These devices help increase air hydration levels by forcing moisture into the environment (in a quiet and aesthetically pleasing kinda way 😉 )

Humidifiers for healthy skin: low humidity levels degrade the skin’s natural moisture barrier, the outermost barrier layer of your skin. In order for it to properly do its job, this layer needs to be sufficiently hydrated. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the ideal indoor relative humidity for health & comfort falls between 30% and 50%. So, if your indoor air needs a little boost, a humidifier could be a very worthwhile investment!

Houseplants love humidifiers: while cacti & succulents thrive in dry conditions, many houseplants prefer a more humid environment. Tip: in addition to using a humidifier you could try grouping your plants together to make a more humid microclimate.

Snuffly Babies love humidifiers: soften the air for those delicate little sinuses! Especially helpful for bubs who suffer from eczema, or are prone to getting dry skin and dry coughs; a humidifier at night time can do wonders for a grumbly bubba. Bonus: it doubles as a very cute, warm nightlight for the nursery!
